If you attempt to incarcerate this, you will most neurotically incarcerate Bat Fuck Insane yourself. The Amulet of Yendor is a legendary amulet that can be used to teleport out of the Uncyclopedia's Community Portal. Be careful, however, as using the amulet will drain half of your magic points, and may attract unwanted attention from the admins. No one really knows what the Amulet of Yendor looks like (except the lucky few who have it), but its value is known (hint:it's not priceless).
Getting the Amulet of Yendor[edit]
To get the Amulet of Yendor, you must play a grueling game called Rogue that was made in the 80's. Information about the game can be found below.
The game of Rogue[edit]
The goal of Rogue is to fight one's way to the bottom, retrieve the Amulet of Yendor, then ascend to the surface. Until the Amulet is retrieved, the player cannot return to earlier levels. Monsters in the levels become progressively more difficult to defeat.
Rare is the adventurer who will again see the light of day.
In the original, all aspects of the dungeon, including the character and the monsters, are represented by letters and symbols. Monsters are represented by capital letters (such as Z for zombie), and as such there are 26 types. Each dungeon level has a grid of 3 rooms by 3 rooms, or dead end hallways where rooms would be expected. Later levels included "mazes" in the place of rooms as well. Unlike most adventure games of the time, the dungeon layout and the placement of objects within are randomly generated. Every time it is played, exploration is equally risky. With an assortment of potions, scrolls, wands, weapons, armor, and food, there are many ways to succeed, and many more ways to die.
“ | The movement keys in the game are: h for left, j for down, k for up, and l for right. Keys for other functions are: q to quaff a potion, w to wield a weapon, and e to eat some food. | ” |
If you get the amulet...[edit]
If you manage to survive through the dungeon of Rogue, and manage to retrieve the Amulet of Yendor, there are three things to do...
- Do a serious victory dance (celebrating your victory, duh!)
- Tell all of your friends that you have absolute pwnage over all
- Get some magic points, just in case you do fall in Uncyclopedia's Community Portal (Of course, since it always drains half, you'll always have some left over, and you'll never run out. Go figure).
