This is awful. Any humor on this topic must avoid the strongly held opinions that (1) opposition to gay marriage has to do with hate, and that (2) support for gay marriages has to do with pedophilia — and you take both of these on in the first paragraph-and-a-half, with no humor. The gem in this article is the pun regarding "(anti-)Unionist" — though partly spoiled by starting with "Ironically." When using irony, do not wink to your reader that you are using irony. The rest of the article devolves into swearing. Even defended on the grounds that it is an accurate rendition of the Northern Irish, the result is not an accurate rendition of a news release.
