UnNews talk:Oshkosh wins tank contract
Needs help; obviously I am torn between skewering recent news of the Obama administration and equating baby clothing with a military vehicle. Anyone jump in. Spıke 🎙️13:22 27-Aug-15
- That was an odd one. Twice now I saved my edits, but they did not appear in the article. Then I hit edit again and they appeared and remained on saving.--EStop (talk) 14:32, August 27, 2015 (UTC)
- I see you have it on the front page now. Would you like me to continue working on this? --EStop (talk) 14:40, August 27, 2015 (UTC)
(A rhetorical quibble: that is the "website main page"; the Front Page is UnNews.) Yes, I have seen the same phenomenon. It is a cacheing bug; Uncyclopedia concludes that it has already rendered a good copy of the UnNews article and redisplays it, although re-rendering now would produce something different. Before continuing to edit, append ?action=purge
to the URL to verify that your edits got in.
Definitely keep going; you are improving it! The only edit I dislike is your first: You gave a sentence a new beginning (involving "non-influential") and the only basis for that joke was — the end of the same sentence! That will baffle the reader. Spıke 🎙️15:17 27-Aug-15
- Okay, thanks for the tip. I have a huge talent for baffling the reader, it comes from being a naturally baffled editor. You can't learn that skill, you either have it or you don't! I see you are playing with this now, so I'll hang back and see where you are taking it. --EStop (talk) 16:14, August 27, 2015 (UTC)
Done for the moment. I burnished your "non-influential" edit and added a wisecrack about Women in Combat. It still tugs in two directions — and I like the goofy as much as the political allegory — but it's now good enough to go onto the real Front Page. Thanks for your help! Spıke 🎙️16:19 27-Aug-15
