does anyone find the bible quote funny or is it just a smug atheist having a go at theists?
- I mean, it does feel kind of random. It looks like an atheist making a statement and putting Al Sharpton's name on it, the "joke" being that Sharpton is a black fellow affiliated with religion. We could put up other Biblical references in the Old Testament that clarify how slavery in those days was more similar to indentured servitude than it was to the racially-based life servitude system found in the antebellum South, but then it's not funny. And where would that leave the smug atheist to have a go at? -BaronGrackle 19:22, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
- If you think Capitalism is enslavement, what about Communism? The USSR made millions of peasants on forced collective labor farms and gulags to house railroad workers. Josef Stalin may been the ultimate slave master in human history. The Slavery article quotes should include one on Communism, the alternative to Capitalist slavery: In Soviet Russia, the dictator and his collective farm manager OWNS you! + 71.102.2.206 10:27, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
Interestingly biased towards showing that women are modern slaves. Nice try but pushing personal agendas kills what is left of humour in such petty attempts. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 195.81.5.124 (talk • contribs)
- The "bias" is the comedy strategy. What kills humor is not the author's bias but his lack of success in turning it into comedy. Race and ideology seem to me much more evident in this article than sex, except for one paragraph. All these topics are so heavy that they need to be reduced to zaniness to truly be funny, and no one has gotten it right here. Spıke Ѧ 14:05 4-Jul-13
