Talk:Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Thanks to whoever redirected it to the proper spelling, uncyclopedia didn't like me when I tried to do it.

Also would someone please fire up photoshop and start inserting some images. I'm very very bad at that. I'll probably try in a week but any help in that department (as well as making this page funny) would be greatly appreciated.

Eat Tagging[edit]

Whilst I am a big fan of there being an article about the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (heck, I love a good poke at my alma mater), I really think that MIT forms a better basis of humor on the subject. There's something humorously wrong (wrongly humorous?) about placing the world's #1 Engineering University as a podunk Tech school in Canada. I think that suitable references to hacking culture, IHTFP and the rest of MIT could be mangled into Manitoba Institute of Technology to create something truly great. --Sir gwax (talk) Signuke.gif 16:14, 28 February 2006 (UTC)

I agree, though my objectivity is suspect. :) ~ T. (talk) 16:20, 28 February 2006 (UTC)
The one problem I have with that is that it hurts the idea of a secret relationship between MIT and the US government. It forms the basis for the money pipelines which I think is the funniest joke in the whole article. I suppose you could resolve this by claiming it has a special relationship with the Canadian government and that the Canadians are the ones pulling the Americans strings making them do all the dirty work and taking the international pressure but such a storyline would have to be appear elsewhere in Uncyclopedia to be funny. I won't merge it but if you want to I won't take it personally. I do hope you make an effort to resolve the US government relationship joke. I will however say that Manitoba is fine because it still leaves the framework intact but my intention was not to make any exceedingly ridiculous claims because they make the joke short and ultimately stupid. (Example: Caltech) My goal was to leave unsure what was true and what wasn't but laughing either way. --Tamsco 00:20, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

This article is stupid. I went to MIT, and I have to say that this page has nothing to do with the school. Funny articles actually have something to do with the subject they parody. I've deleted a lot of the crap. If anyone was really attached to that stuff, please read the ignorable guidelines on humor. Please forgive me for being frank -- but that stuff sucked. Meh whether or not you thought it was funny is strictly an opinion but I too go to MIT and will say much of the stuff was relevant. There is more to MIT than the pain and suffering of undergrad education. There is also the absurdity and bullshit surrounding graduate level research. This page looks icnreasingly like a page made by an undergrad... I'll have to fix that.--Tamsco 21:48, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
