Shit that was featured quickly![edit]

Made on the 17th, featured on the 21st. Well done. There should be a record for the quickest featuring of any one page. --thematrixeætsyou, the 1337 (talk) (flames) 04:02, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

How to make it legal section missing[edit]

OK, so it can't be for all countries, but as far as making a legal religion in the U.S., how does one go about it? How does one get tax-free status? How does one "register" their religion as "real" in the U.S.? Or do you just claim it, and then wait for the IRS to come question your veracity?

What not to do section?[edit]

Copied from User:124.176.93.52's edits:

"Don't declare that the end of the world is happening too soon. Towards the end of your natural life is better but not too close when you are around 50-60 is about right.

Don't take big shortcuts: creating "Christianity but with stem cell research" is tempting and does have mass appeal but the type of person who would be attracted to it thinks that religion is just between them and God not about who can sing the loudest/best.

Don't organise a mass suicide, sure people believe enough in you to kill themselves but how can you enjoy your earthly gleanings when you're dead? "

This breaks up the flow of the article; the final punchline of "Now book it to Mexico." seems a bit niftier, in my opinion, and adding a section on what not to do seems unnecessary. Contestant buzzer.JPG Contestant CUN -- VFH NotM Buzz Ctrbs 02:48, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

"Now book it to Mexico" lacks appeal to those who live in countries that don't share a border with Mexico, also why delete my Salmon Rushdie refernece? don't you know who he is? also a what not to do section allows us to poke fun at the mistakes of cults like the raalians (unsure of spelling) who claimed to have successfully cloned a person.

We don't know. Who is this Salmon Rushdie of which you speak? --General Insineratehymn 03:02, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
he wrote a book called "The Satanic Verses" and has a fatwa placed on him by Muslims in many countries especially Iran look it up in that parody of uncyclopedia site
I've already added a Salmon Rushdie reference; that's both implied by the "declare bounties on celebrities in the name of your god" part, and it's even linked there. While the "What not to do" thing makes fun of cults, we're not making fun of cults, we're making fun of religions. Also, "Now book it to Mexico" is still a universal concept; flee the country and live like a King while screwing the others. I may be wrong, though. while he is famous he is not technically a celebrity as he rarely makes appearences in gossip magazines, i thought you meant declaring "tom cruise is the antichrist eternal reward for whoever smites him", also all religions were considered cults at their beginnings.
For our purposes, let's consider the difference between famous and celebrity moot; as long as the reference is across, it's funny. It's in there, it's good, let's settle that?
Secondly, banging on Tom Cruise too much is clichéd. There are a few jabs at him here or there, but if we use him too much, the article relies on him, and that's not funny. Contestant buzzer.JPG Contestant CUN -- VFH NotM Buzz Ctrbs 03:10, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
I only used him to give an example i would not actually put that in the article, though maybe put in a "deciding on an antichrist" section in the article and the salmon rushdie article here doesn't explain the joke properly.
Deciding on an antichrist will only devolve into celebrity jokes. The reference to Salmon Rushdie naturally assumes that there's some knowledge of who he is; if you don't have that, you won't get the joke, and Uncyclopedia is not the place to educate people. Agreed that this is probably the best featured in a long time. --So So 13:32, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

From Pee Review[edit]

Humour: 9 Definitely meets the standards of HTBFANJS.
Concept: 9 Really good concept. As we know, 9 out of 10 religions fail in their first year. With this guide, you won't meet the same fate.
Prose and formatting: 9 Very neatly organized. Makes it easy for a person to get into and keep reading.
Images: 9 Images are relevant to the article.
Miscellaneous: 10 n/a
Final Score: 46 Definitely one of the best articles I have seen on Uncyclopedia. This might even be VFH-worthy.
