Forum:Wait wait wait, get this: Featured Audios.
We already have featured images, so I propose a VFA: Same rules apply for articles as audios. Let me throw a few ideas of audios that could be feature-able:
- Media:UnNews-Vincent_Van_Gogh_lost_ear_to_grues_say_German_historians.mp3 by Todd Lyons
- Media:'re_Not_Thinkerer.mp3 by RAHB
- any of the Star Wars (Japanese Opera) things by RAHB
- anything ever done by RAHB
The only reason I'm hesitant about this is that it hasn't been done already, and I'm curious why... Oh well, tell me what you think. • <12:08 May 23, 2009>
- It's not a bad idea, but where and how should we feature it?
- Well, we feature images in a kind of backwoods sort of way (it's at the bottom of the main page, it's voting section is not too prominent). I figure a section of the main page, below the VFP? It would have a voting section identical to VFP at first; If it gets serious it can change. • <12:13 May 23, 2009>
- Well, we could put it next to the featured image part, since the caption is usually rather short. Can we embed something in somekind of box so you don't always have to download it and play it on your own Media Player or whatever you use? 12:44, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

- I like it. I'd be inclined to do a lot more voice work if it saw the front page a bit more prominently. As it is, I'm not sure how many people listen to UnNews Audio, because even it is kinda buried in the lower right corner of the UnNews page. --T. (talk) 12:32, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
- Plus, you have to remember to switch your speakers on. I, for one, rarely make it over that particular mountain. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 14:33, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
- Computers come with speakers now? What will they think of next? And by "they" I of course mean the Chinese. -OptyC Sucks! CUN14:44, 23 May
- First off FU CAJEK, if there's anyone I rather not get any recognition by, it would be you. Second, I love audios, even though I think we need to revive this whole section of the site - but what worries me is that we have major issues with featuring articles and pictures as it is, i don't want to create another stale voting page. Ideas? ~ 14:46, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

- Dammit Spang, can't you see we're trying to humor Cajek so he'll stick around for a while? -OptyC Sucks! CUN23:00, 23 May
Thou shalt not
Thou shalt not vote for these videos nominated by Cajek. 06:14, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
- And by "videos" you mean "audios", right? Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 06:20, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
It's pronounced Goch not Go
Vincent van Gogh is pronounced wrong, so automatic FAIL. --CrabPope 16:23, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
- What about Van Go? Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 16:27, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
I read this, wondered if some tea and crumpets might help, got bored, lost consciousness, dreamed about beating up pretentious wankers with their own canes, woke up, remembered I was recording free material for some obscure website, then did it in a very American style using American pronunciation (or as well as a Canadian can approximate). My sincerest apologies if you didn't like it. --T. (talk) 15:59, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

- Wow. I really am slacking now. :) Of course, if an extraneous pipe is enough to stymie the typical readers here, then Goch might have been disastrous. --T. (talk) 16:08, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
- You just made up a bunch of those words! Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 20:14, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
- Apologies if I sounded pretentious or anal, I did like the clip - just thought I should point it out in an annoying manner. Goch is the Dutch pronunciation, that is his name, there's no such thing as an 'American' version of it. Plus Vincent Van-Go sounds like a run-down delivery company --CrabPope 23:00, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
- Having lived for 6 years in the US and the rest of my life (before and since) in various parts of Canada, I'd have to respectfully disagree. :) Certainly there is a black and white right and wrong to pronunciation. In books. But here in North America as there in the UK there is the real way that the absolutes vary. I've never understood why British people pronounce Rs that don't exist in the written words, nor why Americans butcher any foreign words that find use in American English. But I just smile and let myself be charmed by it, rather than jumping over the table and strangling the guy who keeps saying "foyer" as "foy-urrr" instead of "foy-ayy". ;-) In any case, the rough "och" stood out from the rest of the text like a blistering sore, so on take 2 I changed it. Perhaps I'm just not verbally agile enough to blend it so that it isn't the spoken equivalent of a highlighting pen. --T. (talk) 23:37, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

- I speak Dutch and I don't fucking care whether you say Goch or Goh or whatever you want to pronounce it. Just saying. 23:41, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

I agree with the following points from above.
- Feature everything I create.
- Remove the featured article and replace it with the featured audio.
- Make anus comments.
- Make up all words.
- Feature everything created by me.
- All of the audio guys are members of the non-existent cabal (although Zana Dark has begun working on some pretty nice ones)
Following this series of steps, I think we can properly create an elegant featuring scheme for audios of those who really deserve to have them featured. Namely, me. -RAHB 21:10, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
- I'm sorry to bother you, but you aren't all that. If you were all that, you'd be me. Clearly, that's ridiculous. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 22:10, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
