Forum:Quoticide - a retrospective
I have a request from all of those individuals who indulge themselves with Quoticide here and then. I think that the original mission (many quotes bad/few good quotes good) has been lost in the far past, and by now - everyone are dropping quotes all over the place without, I have to feeling, of ever reading them and deciding if they actually contribute to the article. So please, read them before you delete them!
Generally speaking, I have the feeling that we're too much into "...icides" these last few months, dropping quotes, templates, articles, stubs, noobs and memes all over the place. Not all are bad, and not anything that is not purely a part of the article should be shot on the spot.
Take a break from "...icidesing", pillage a village, have a huge party somewhere, drink quality alcohol and someone please turn on the air condition! ~ 15:07, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
- Well, If we all have a party, who will engage in Vandalicide. Do we do ADMIN FOR A DAY, or do we just shut the Uncyclopedia down. I mean Vandalicide is one of the main passtimes for Uncyclopedia's established users. --Capercorn FLAME! what? UNATO OWS 15:09, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
- I always read quotes, and I always evaluate them with respect to the article when I consider deleting them. I can't imagine not doing that...unthinkingly deleting stuff is UnUncyclopaedic behavior. I will, however, continue to delete the hell out of irrelevant and/or stupid quotes and templates wherever possible. As far as cruft goes, viva la muerte! ----OEJ 16:24, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, when I quoticide pages, I almost never delete all the quotes. Generally speaking, there's usually one or two that I'll keep, because they're either more relevant or more funny than those which would merit deletion. If one of my pages with quotes suddenly had no more quotes, I'd almost feel like it was vandalized. But, if 2 quotes were huffed and 1 was left, I'd know that whoever it was decided to actually read the quotes, and not just delete any instance of template:q they could find. - Amen to that, brother. Can I get an hallelujiah? No? Oh well, I tried. --Whhhy?Whut?How? *Back from the dead* 22:34, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
- Just to ensure nobody thinks otherwise, I do evaluate the quotes I delete, and only delete the ones which are stupid, irrelevant, unfunny or overused. I don't think anyone will be able to convince me to take a break from the "icides", because certain quotes/templates (used on the wrong pages) are simply a very bad reflection on our website, and need to go ASAP. - I wasn't saying that ...Iciding is bad as a whole. I just think (and I don't refer to anyone in person) that roaming around all day long looking for stuff to delete, can be a bit excess at times. ~ 13:04, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
- Possibly, but if you go of "iciding" things like removing random shit, you pretty much don't give a shit on his humor, but we all to make sure EVERYONE finds an article funny.--Dark Paladin X 15:02, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

And now for something completely different: Isn't it interesting how Forum text creeps to the right? I think that it is an article-worthy phenomenon. Perhaps even an "-icide"-worthy phenomenon... --Lord Fluffy who rains fire from the heavens 20:00, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
