Forum:Google Plus
Can you plus google add to the share this page button? --Matador apol 05:38, November 4, 2011 (UTC)
- Certainly, though if you or someone could tell me how the link etc would work, that would help. I know nothing about these things.

Now, is he talking about "Google+" or "Google +1"? If it's the former, I believe you would add the following to User:Lyrithya/share.js:
shares[8] = ['https://m.google.com/app/plus/x/?v=compose&content=' + titlenu + ' - ' + pathn, 'Google+', 'd-googleplus']
or just replace shares[3] (Google Buzz) with the above code. Google Buzz is dead, ain't it? and then add the following to MediaWiki:Common.css: #d-googleplus a { background: url(http://www.google.com/images/icons/ui/gprofile_button-16.png) no-repeat left !important; }
Somebody needs to try out that link first, though, as I stole it from instructions for a WordPress blog, and I don't HAVE a Google+ account.
- Maybe I should have phrased that differently: 'If someone could give me a link that they know works, it would help'... or was there a blog using it? Even if you don't HAVE a google+ account, it's usually fairly reasonable to assume if folks are actually using it, they probably tested it themselves. Not always; they could have done the same thing, but... eh.

- Well, then, "https://m.google.com/app/plus/x/?v=compose&content=TITLE - PATH" looks like it works. Sorry for sticking my nose in places it doesn't belong. ~ Fri, Nov 4 '11 22:22 (UTC)
- If you think it'll work, that's all you had to say. We'll hear from folks soon enough if it doesn't, especially if the above fellow is still paying attention.

- Still searching for a better solution, though. According to all I've read, Google+ do not yet have an "official" share link, so this is sort of a hack. ~ Fri, Nov 4 '11 23:16 (UTC)
Yes I am still here, I haven't left I just forgot to hit the refresh button. I found this link http://www.google.com/+1/button/ not sure where to go from there. Thanks --Matador apol 01:03, November 5, 2011 (UTC)
Or this link http://www.google.com/intl/en/webmasters/+1/button/index.html--Matador apol 01:06, November 5, 2011 (UTC)
- Could you refresh on a page, see if what we did works? It's in the place of the Buzz one.

No, it takes me to some other wierd looking google page, I think it is the mobile version of google. Oh and I meant +1.--Matador apol 01:55, November 5, 2011 (UTC)
- Alright, removed that. If you do find the right thing, let us know, eh? Though I couldn't find anything either. >.<

Sorry, here is the link again http://www.google.com/intl/en/webmasters/+1/button/index.html the other 404 for some reason.--Matador apol 02:01, November 5, 2011 (UTC)
- this page has more in-depth stuff about the Google +1 button, but there's nothing there that I see in terms of adding a simple goddamned link to a page. If somebody would like, I'll make a Google+ dummy account and poke around in the API until I find something useful. ~ Sat, Nov 5 '11 2:07 (UTC)
- Well, unless you have something better to do. If we just wait, chances are they'll make something easier known sooner or later, since it is in the best interests of a social dealy to be seen and spread and such... but then again, maybe they're trying to attract people like you who want a challenge, or something. Yeah, maybe it was totally intentional. Like this muskox on my head. Totally intentional.

- More like intentional stupidity. Remember how Chrome didn't have extensions until frickin' version 4.0? "Simplicity blah blah user friendliness blah blah." My ass.
- Yesterday, Google +1 buttons littered my screen. They were all over the search results page. Now? I can't find a damned one.
- Oh, and I also can't log into my newly-created Google+ account. (Expletive) Google. ~ Sat, Nov 5 '11 5:39 (UTC)
- Okay, now that's pretty funny. I'd wonder what they're up to, but that'd take effort.
