The Clone Wars is reference to the fictional war set in the Star Wars universe between the Grand Army of the Galactic Republic (Clone Troopers and Jedi) and the Separatist Alliance (Battle Droids).
In real life, however, there were two TV shows set during The Clone Wars that was first mentioned in 1977's Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope (only known as Star Wars at the time). The difference between the two shows is the animation style and the word "The" in the title.
