The Lua programming language can power templates through files of code called modules. Modules in the Module: namespace can be edited by users with accounts like regular templates. More information can be found at wikipedia:Wikipedia:Lua.
Coders with Lua expertise who wish to implement ideas are encouraged to ask an active admin before importing Wikipedia-style modules or templates—as of 2021, there are too few coders able to maintain the modules, making its use discouraged. Nonetheless, exceptions include:
- applications where no suitable alternatives exist
- applications where its disrepair would not break a significant portion of the site
Like C++, it is fast and efficient as a programming language, so it may one day become a significant part of Uncyclopedia infrastructure.
