According to the help pages the interwiki_map enables interwiki links to non-wikia wikis. Please, just try it. Probably one way of interwiki-linking will be opened surely, but I'm unsure about enabling both interwiki-linking mechanisms by just mapping. My experience is that at least the direct-from-wikitext-link by opening [[: parentheses will be enabled by mapping in the interwiki map, whilst the reference links with opening [[ parentheses might not be enabled by just mapping - there seems some other secret to be uncovered to achieve full interlinking power :-( U.
