This is the talk page for discussing improvements to the US states page.

this template is uglier than sin. I personally hate randomness in these kind of sectional templates. I'm going to try to fix it. --Mn-z 02:04, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

Color-coding[edit]

Could someone try changing the font/background colours to red/blue/white to resemble the American flag? --Mimo&Maxus (Talk) 14:14, November 18, 2013 (UTC)

I can do that. But there's a bigger issue; Mnbvcxz spent a lot of time making each individual link red, purple, or blue, corresponding to each state's political leaning. This is ill-advised, as a state's political leaning might be measurable in Presidential voting (until it changes in the next election) but with many counterexamples if you look deeper. My state has gyrated wildly in recent years; it is a stereotype Republican state but now represented in Congress by three Democrats and one imitation. Whether we voted for Obama or McCain (the template has not been updated for 2012!) is not relevant, especially to humor. Spıke Ѧ 14:23 18-Nov-13
