SPIKE, let's try again. The point of my addition to Scripture was to point out that (in the experience of those people who actually have to deal with them on a regular basis), most members of SA don't know very much about marxism or trotskyism (apart from that trots are allowed to be aggressive, violent dicks 'cos their favorite political philosopher was killed with an icepick), and there's this nasty habit their core members have of telling other people what their beliefs are and why they're bad people because of it.

It is, as i tried to express initially, pretty non-partisan. Both the self identified left and right on the student political spectrum think they're idiots for both personal and political reasons, and most mainstream people only interact with them briefly to be told about why they should be worshipping marx and then (when they don't show enough enthusiasm) why they're right-wing sympathising scum.

Help me find a way to make this funny, poignant and not just insulting, eh?

Sounds good. (Don't you want to pick a username and become a fellow fixture here?) Apart from markup and grammar, my biggest concern, which remains even with your statement above, is that your main purpose is not to make the reader laugh but to set down your own gripes on the page. I tell people that, when ridiculing races, religions, ideologies, parties, and so on, keep it light and superficial; above all, do not laugh at extremism either by imitating their extremism or that of the other side, because people who actually know the issues will wonder how much is serious.

The paragraph you edited most recently I almost blew away entirely. As well as starting with one of the encyclopedia clichés that I hate ("Some commentators have noted that..."), it is nothing but a list of fringe groups.
