Article policies

Hmm. It's very long, so I don't think it should ever be subjected to "speedy deletion". There's a huge amount of passionate work in there, and many have contributed to it and it shows. --sigs

I try to point out when there's in-jokes, so: the Oscar Wilde quote at the top is a Monty Python in-joke (of sorts), so don't delete it, as it's quite funny. --Joachim22 06:11, 14 Dec 2005 (UTC)

I reverted to 82.45.10.121's last edit, which is the newest edit that looks neat. From that point on, 80.222.34.10 has vandalized the page out of complete idiocy. This[1] is a must see. And they say Finns are intelligent.. -- Unissakävelijä 12:56, 20 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Would suggest total destruction and have someone who can take Finland NOT so seriously to make a new page from scratch. Really, most of the stuff in here is FACT! I'm also an exchange student to finland at the moment, in kuopio and ur article is just... fucking true ;) although i haven't noticed some of the stuff u were telling about i aggree with about 80% of the article.

I've been here since like 3,5 months now and they're still fucking givin' me a hard time. If drinking is so common then why the hell r they opening their clubs for only people about 18. and if they've been isolated such a long time, why don't they communicate with every single person out of the perhaps 5 year, who visits finland???

Slander! Outright slander![edit]

I would have it known to all who might read this kind of shit that there are entire sections in this article that could be considered exaggerated, if not outright lies!

For instance, not every Finn is as constantly and heavily drunk, as this article would have it! I, myself, have been sober since Mayday (excepting this actual moment)!

Not every Finn carries a knife (at all times)! I, for instance carry a knife only on special occasions (which does NOT mean weekdays).

Ja sitäpaitsi, tää artikkeli on ihan selvästi suomalaisten suomalaisille kirjoittama. Siirtäkää tää suomalaiseen Hikipediaan. Sen vastaava oli paljon vähemmän hauska. Oikeesti!

Donald Duck/Aku Ankka[edit]

There should be some things about Donald Duck on here. Like Donald Duck was banned in Finland because he not only didn't wear any pants, but he didn't wear a shirt either. Some said he was in a sauna and was having the cold air blow on his back, but others thought he was protesting for nudists rights and kids were coming home from school at the time.MrCleveland 20:48, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

Not funny[edit]

I think internet would be _almost_ perfect if all the finland related articles were steamrolled and all future edits from finnish IPs banned. Look at the glory of the page for sweden and compare it to the horror of: fun substituted with saying opposite / totally inward turned "humour" that's not even funny for a finnish reader. ( well to be honest some of it is, but only very little of it :O! ) / touch of angsty teenagers (eg. lack of fun) and bitter men on their twenties (like me). If I could I'd evolve into a butterfly and fly into a volcano rather than have this nightmare exist in the fabric of reality itself. Please just make it at least bad, just bad and generic, that would work.

This article is indeed very unfunny and full of crap. I've started removing some of the utter nonsense that's really just a pile of made up drivel with no connection to reality and replacing it with something that at least attempts to be satirical. Not saying that I'm the funniest person alive but come on, you could write a funny article about Finland without having to pull any silly names from your arse or make up anything at all.
