Wildeism

Coats of arms in country articles resemble Wikipedia. Initial quotations do not and are often deleted unless they are very funny. Pointing to something elsewhere on the page is not very funny. My change summary noted that the quote Was a Wildeism; attribution made a serious point; edited text had even less to do with Djibouti than before. Spıke Ѧ 15:17 26-Oct-14

Not pointing to, referring to. Creating a narrative is what Wiki does, with parts of the article referring to each other. Parts of unwiki should also refer to each other, but use their own 'facts', some times dimly based on reality.

Coat of arms is also referenced in beginning of History section. Don't get rid of that anyway, it ties in. 24.130.15.8 15:41, October 26, 2014 (UTC)

I see. For me - a reader, who knows nothing about Djibouti, could you, please, explain how losing arms is connected to the country? Is it a penalty of some sort? Sorry for my ignorance.

Spike, the actual Wilde quote is "To lose one parent may be regarded as a misfortune...", and, for me, the edited one reads like black humour, although it does make a serious point at the same time. I am not sure the page should start with it, however, it could work better in the politics section, where the coat of arms is referenced. Anton (talk) 17:45, October 26, 2014 (UTC)
