Overly British?[edit]
Damn, that is one OVERLY BRITISH page. Could someone please make a version for Americans? Also, realize that, despite what people may think, American cops are a bit more elite than British cops. Plus, (unless you live in Chicago) Americans haven't really much to worry about all this Gatso crap. And furthermore, American cops drive Ford Crown Victorias with big V-8 engines; Chevy Camaros; and more recently, new Dodge Chargers with Hemi V-8 engines. Those things ain't no duddy little Panda cars that British cops drive, that's for sure. And another thing, some cops like to carry large-caliber revolvers like Dirty Harry. And finally, America hasn't a "DVLA", only a "DMV. In short, a new "Americanized" version of this article should be written, that's for sure.
- Or you could try to learn about the world...America is just one country, right? You wouldn't go to <insert foreign country here> and send your <insert foreign food here> back while telling <insert foreign waiter> to not bring it back until it's been Americanized, would you? That would be silly. Modusoperandi 01:10, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
- Really? No cameras? Madness! Count yourself lucky, then. Still, my point stands. Modusoperandi 01:01, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
- OK, I think Chicago might have them, but that's all. Even though your point may stand, I'm going to create a version of this article for Americans. (P.S., If you're an American Uncyclopedian & your city does indeed have speed cameras, then let me know.)
- What's up with a bit of Britishness? Heh, I remember a similar argument over Age of Umpires. --Hindleyite | PL | GUN | WOTM | Image Review - Use it | Converse 14:44, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
- What's up is that Americans are going to think that the cops are as incompetent as portrayed here & mess up & get blown away (Well, not in all cases that is). That, or they'll spend way too much time worrying about non-existent speed cameras (again, Chicago and a couple of other cities might have them. I'll check.) & mess up & get into an accident. That's what's up, slick. By the way, now that I've looked it over, there should be an Age of Umpires for baseball. Heck, I didn't even know cricket had an umpire up until I read that article!
- You do know that this isn't Wikipedia, right? If someone <shudder> does what anything on Uncyc says to do, and dies...well, that's just cleaning out the shallow end of the comedy gene pool, init? On a side note, please sign your posts (with four tildes, like this ~~~~). Otherwise it looks like we are talking to ourselves. Modusoperandi 20:21, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
More like legal manslaughter, eh? Well anyways, it turns out that some US jurisdictions have speed cameras (or similar devices thereof), but their usage is controversial. It even says it in the Wikipedia article on speed cameras: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speed_cameras 68.14.20.221 23:57, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
