The Puzzle Potato Logo seems to be far too big. I don't know if it only appears that way for me or if everyone else is having this issue. Here's a picture of what it looks like on my screen. --Talk to me! Sir Xam Ralco the Mediocre 20:37, February 6, 2015 (UTC) Logo too large.png

Am looking into this. That is not the Puzzle Potato Logo but the Featured Article Puzzle Potato Logo. It is calling for 190px but obviously doesn't fit into it. Does the same problem occur in non-featured articles? Spıke Ѧ 20:43 6-Feb-15
Yeah, the same thing happens with non-featured articles. --Talk to me! Sir Xam Ralco the Mediocre 20:46, February 6, 2015 (UTC)

I'm wrong above. {{FA}} doesn't do anything to the potato but uses "z-index" to try to put the rubber-stamp FEATURED on top of it. I have not yet found where the potato is specified nor where the image file is. A new version may have been uploaded. Did it just start happening today? Spıke Ѧ 20:50 6-Feb-15
It may have been like that for a few days but I only just noticed it now. The link for the file is File:Wiki.png I believe. --Talk to me! Sir Xam Ralco the Mediocre 20:55, February 6, 2015 (UTC)
That looks like the one. Any idea who calls for it, or shall we ask Puppy? On 7-Jan and 16-Jan, I played with MediaWiki:Common.css, but only to change the display of diffs (to use a dark background to make it easier to spot when someone just adds or removes spaces). Nothing else since last September. Spıke Ѧ 21:09 6-Feb-15
I don't really understand how a lot of the css stuff works. I think it would be best to ask Puppy. --Talk to me! Sir Xam Ralco the Mediocre 21:46, February 6, 2015 (UTC)
I've sent a request. Spıke Ѧ 22:24 6-Feb-15
PS--As you can see, File:Wiki.png has not changed since 2012, and its width at 152px should fit fine. There is some sorcery going on somewhere. Spıke Ѧ 22:32 6-Feb-15
It might be related to the issues with the "My Preferences" section. --Talk to me! Sir Xam Ralco the Mediocre 22:55, February 6, 2015 (UTC)
Anything is possible (including a new Major Release that simultaneously makes a lot of things fail), but normally you wouldn't think a bug in granting access to "My preferences" would affect stuff that happens to be accessible on the page. Wikia is guided by fashion and may believe the typical user now has a display with more pixels; also, Wikia and other websites striving to embrace mobile access often make changes that break desktop access.
To help narrow it down: (1) Does it still screw up when you disable JavaScript? (2) Does it screw up in alternate namespaces, such as UnDebate? These namespaces have custom site logos specified in MediaWiki:Common.css, but I don't know what specifies the site-wide default. Spıke Ѧ 15:36 7-Feb-15
The only logo that is affected is the main uncyc logo. I'm not sure how to turn off JavaScript so I can't tell you if that will have any effect. --Talk to me! Sir Xam Ralco the Mediocre 01:42, February 8, 2015 (UTC)
I have called this one into Wikia. Spıke Ѧ 02:49 8-Feb-15

Wikia replies

George Marbulcanti at Wikia replies:

Could you possibly ask the user to try loading the site with this added to the URL: ?usesitecss=0&usesitejs=0&allowusercss=0&allowuserjs=0
For example, http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/User:Xamralco?usesitecss=0&usesitejs=0&allowusercss=0&allowuserjs=0
This should eliminate any custom code on their account (or on Uncyc itself) from being the trigger. It might also be a good idea to suggest that they contact us directly (via Special:Contact) - we might be able to diagnose the source more effectively that way.

If you reply directly, reference my bug report 180394. Spıke Ѧ 18:35 9-Feb-15

PS--I have tried this (I had to rename my local userContent.css too) and switched on images ($) and the result is interesting. Sophia is being clipped, but not exactly as it is being clipped for Xamralco: The wheelchair icon is completely visible on my screen. 20:38 On second thought, less interesting than it seems. One way our predecessors tried to make the rigid CSS vary according to screen size is to make some of the dimensions things like 2em (the width of two "em" dashes), so people with larger screens pick larger fonts and things we have to state the exact width of, get wider.
