Take two... action!

Are there any lists of formatting codes? And by that, I mean lists. With everything.

More specifically, is it possible to place text in front of a picture? Uhh, That's probably it then. It's always EpicAwesomeness' fault 17:59, January 28, 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, the first time, I presume you meant to make it a forum and did what it said and it didn't work? Blame Wikia. They broke it.
Anyhow, formatting hacks... there's a list somewhere, but I've no idea where. So I usually just look things up on mediawiki and in the site css when I need to, which is of course no help to you, right? Actually, I think the beginner's guide has some decent formatting stuff, too.
What exactly do you mean, placing text in front of a picture, exactly, though? Because some ways would be more complicated than others...

An actual, organized list? Here? Are you mad? Most of us just hit "edit" when we see some neat formatting thingy and steal it.
And it's easy to put text before a picture, Crawhus.jpg, although I don't know why you'd want to. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 18:32, January 28, 2011 (UTC)
Perhaps he wants to have text when you scroll over it like this. Or like Aleister has been doing
Al Jolson is gonna fuck you up real good.
in all his new articles.

Wow, that's irritating. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 19:15, January 28, 2011 (UTC)

Actually I wanted to have a picture there, and then normal text (eg this) directly infront of it. Alternately, is there a way to make that coloured backing, for example the yellow bit here? Oh yeah, It's almost definately possible to link an image to a page, but can someone explain it (yeah I'm an idiot)? Thanks Wait... stop! I mean, are there any lists with like, a lot of stuff there?

In front or underneath? This is underneath. In front has the text floating spookily in front of your monitor. That's less a formatting thing and more of an LSD one.

ps - see {{purplespleen}} for a better example if that is indeed what you were after.
