- One of a variety of endangered tropical fruits with sweet and slightly chewy flesh, best known for their use in making banoffee pie.

Etymology[edit]
From Scots Gaelic "bann", meaning a strip, and Manx "fee" meaning woven or braided, referring to the distinctive shape of the vine's trailing stems.
