Banoffee

  1. One of a variety of endangered tropical fruits with sweet and slightly chewy flesh, best known for their use in making banoffee pie.
  2. The vine that said fruits grow upon.

Etymology[edit]

From Scots Gaelic "bann", meaning a strip, and Manx "fee" meaning woven or braided, referring to the distinctive shape of the vine's trailing stems.
