Fat Lizzy
Fat Lizzy was formed in 1969 by Bill 'Full Belly' Lynott, often known by fans as just Full Lynott, the obese brother of Phil Lynott, who formed the band Thin Lizzy around the same time. Bill was jealous of his brother's new band, and decided he wanted to create his own.
Formation of the band[edit]
In July 1970, the band released a single "The Farmer", inspired by the previous night where they stole food from a farm. They were arrested for theft the following month, when police heard the lyrics and realised that they were confessing to stealing food. After this, they released their new album "Shades of a blue chocolate bar" in March 1972. Around this time, Bill Lynott was referred to by the press as "He's had his fill Lynott".
Whiskey in the Jar Vodka in the Jug[edit]
In 1972, Fat Lizzy released their most famous song, "Vodka in the Jug", about a highwayman. However, this song resulted in a lawsuit from Phil Lynott, and it was subsequently banned. Copies of this song are now a collector's item, due to Fill Lynott eating the majority of the copies, and recently, the song has been uploaded to the internet.
Later Career[edit]
When Thin Lizzy died from anorexia, music fans turned on Fat Lizzy for causing the death of their group. Fat Lizzy changed their name to W.C. and became flushed with success.
