The Nutcracker
The Making Of The Nutcracker[edit]
The Nutcracker ballet was created by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, in Russia. He found this Christmas story about a stinky rat and some wooden toy, and decided to make a more famous ballet about it. After all, copyright didn't exist yet! The composer worked and worked, trying to finish it. The choreographer working with him found the story to be too dark for the public. After all, it was about a girl falling in love (literally) with a random toy, and a multi-headed crazed rat trying to kill them. He made this version lighter and "better for the public". Not much is known about his identity except that he was a U.S. government censor. Meanwhile, Tchaikovsky found a new instrument for the Nutcracker's crystal-like music. It was called the cele-something or what. Its enlightenment drew Pyotr to it, who incorporated it in his music. He was eventually finished after a while, and was ready to present his piece.
The First Showing[edit]
At the theater where Pyotr was presenting the Nutcracker, people were buzzing about. Literally. When the show started, people actually liked it. They listened to the variety of instruments and the cele-something, and watched the choreography of the U.S. censored ballet. For no particular reason, Walt Disney was there. He listened to the music and thought "Hey! Why don't I copy this to make a famous and money-generating movie!". Pyotr had made a grave mistake, which was not trademarking his ballet.
