Missing ad[edit]
What happened to the one that said "If this banner is flashing, yuo have won!" (and didn't flash)? Now it's just a "click here", lacking a gag. --User:Nintendorulez 15:13, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
- If you want images to not be deleted, that only appear in a <choose> or as external links, you have to use {{notorphan}}. See Forum:Gallery_fire_week:_a_modest_proposal_(OMG_eating_babies!) to request a restore (or just reupload it, looks like this one isn't currently being used). --Splaka 06:08, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
Square ads...[edit]
...aren't annoying enough. —Another Pongo Flame Sandbox ☭ 09:14, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
Wikipedia donate ad[edit]
I re-added this since it parodies Wikipedia's increasingly nagging donation drives. While first there was simple text that you could hide, now there is a large banner ad that, even when hidden, is replaced by a text ad. So, the parody is that Wikipedia will eventually have flashing banner ads. SteveSims 23:31, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
- Heheh, I was wondering why I couldn't see this, when I realised my ad blocker was blocking it because it has "ad" in the title. • Spang • ☃ • talk • 00:04, 21 Nov 2007
Two epilepsy tests[edit]
Though real ads also don't offer free epilepsy tests, both ads parody the flashing nature of banner ads. By keeping its language in-tune with real banner adds, the white and black one preserves its humor and parody. Conversely, the red and blue one calls potential victims "stupid moron[s]," which ruins much of the parody since the ad's text is no longer similar to a real banner ad.
I've removed the red and blue ad from the template since it isn't better than the older white and black ad and prevents funnier ads from being seen as often. SteveSims 23:47, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry for the very late comment but I noticed something about the 2 banners. One is for an actual epilepsy test and the other one is for a free coupon for an epilepsy test plus fucking up your computer with spyware. So IMO is slightly redundant but not exactly the same thing. ----Pleb- Sawblade5 [block me!] ( yell | FAQ | I did this ) 07:06, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
