Options

• |img= (default: gif)
  • png
• |size= (default: 44)
  • size in pixels

The classic version of this template used GIF for compatibility reasons; though compatibility is no longer an issue. Compare GIF chesspieces and PNG chesspieces in the sandbox.

The chesspieces can be rendered in different sizes. To create a chessboard half the size, change the first line to:

History

Past documentation read "End each line with |= to prevent the next number parameter being implemented."

This had a side effect of populating Category:Pages using duplicate arguments in template calls. Newlines are now stripped away with Template:Trim. It is no longer recommended to end lines with |=.
