What about negative counting systems? You know. Those asshole numbers who only bring you down? They work like so:

Positive numbers only touch negative numbers.
Negative numbers only touch positive numbers.
The one's digit is positive

Thus, 21 in negative decimal, when changed to decimal is -19. 190 becomes 10, and so on. So, you know, it's only used by dicks who think they're better than you.

I had to avoid some of the more unusual number base systems to maintain accessible humour. The version of the quaternary system towards the top seems similar to the troll counting system in some of the early Discworld books. I wonder if this is on purpose. --Whyhow (talk) 05:31, November 11, 2013 (UTC)

I subconsciously used Pratchett's troll system. I knew that I'd heard the joke before, but couldn't remember when I regurgitated it where it came from. When I re-read the book it came from (Moving pictures?) I realised how closely I had kept to his version, but it works so well here - and the article had been featured - that I didn't want to change it.
