Ipod nano sucks!!!! Go iCommunist!!!! I tried this with my brand new nANO that I had saved up for by helping out my Granny. It worked a lot better when I ran it of the voltage convertor on her motorised wheelchair.

The n in nano is not capitalized. It has to be iPod nano. Floker

Ok now all you need is the Fuel Cell add-on and you are set-to-go ...boost that 0.06 to who knows, ditch the convertor and get into the 22nd century buddy

If you want to try this...[edit]

If you want to try this, you can get a good bit of wire by disconnecting that blue or grey cord coming from your computer to the wall. --POJoe!Ireland.jpgTALKCONTRIBSF@H 23:50, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

Photoshop[edit]

Even if it was technically possible, you can see the photos are photoshopped. Look at that side-on shot...

No one noticed the opened iPod is black and the closed one white... But then again I supposed the white one was black to begin with and photoshopped white, just to throw us off.

Choice of drive[edit]

I'm surprised you used a Maxtor, they make a hell of a noise.

Completely Asinine![edit]

This must be the mostest *coolest* mod on the Internet.

Maxtor Click![edit]

At least that maxtor will keep the nano warm until the drive starts the dreaded maxtor click death

WTF[edit]

hmm, ok then, the device is no longer as portable or visually appealing. However, i love a good hack so nice work.

Fing Gay.

power[edit]

how much juice needs to go into that red wire, anyway? can you string together a pack of AA batteries and lug it along with you as well?

Look like is Hoax[edit]

  1. How you supply both +5V and +12V to Maxtor drive from the +3.7V nano battery?
  2. Too little wires used. ATA data bus and address bus already acccount for 19 pins, not mention about the control signals.
  3. You wire to flash side is another no.
  4. You don't mention about reinstall nano system file to new drive. It is not so straight forward as you think, duke.
Ya think? See Uncyclopedia:About. --Splaka 07:11, 13 Oct 2005 (UTC)
  1. Simply attach the ipod battery pack, which is sold seperately, and you do not need the the 12 , the maxtor will run like any mobile HD (less speed)
  2. Serial ATA, duh! That is why you need a maxtor.
  3. No way, this is how you get serial connections.
  4. Just insert the apple CD and it formats it like a blank ipod. Duh.

Wow, just wow. I didn't know so many people would actually take Uncyclopedia seriously. Good work, Chronarion. Camalex 22:19, 20 Oct 2005 (UTC)
Didn't the thing about 6 minutes of battery life time tip you off...--Dp462090 00:05, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
It's six seconds worth of battery life. --168.122.232.121 01:26, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
No, it's six minutes. 68.8.249.179 00:51, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

Definitely fake.. (hence "UN"cyclopedia)..[edit]

Not possible. The controller wired to the Nano board does not show up in the final finished pics yet it is too wide to be concealed by the iPod's case (nor do the wires to it, nor the ATA ribbon cable etc etc).. And where were the holes drilled in the case of the Nano to allow those different wires that did show up in the final pic to come out since the case of the Nano is clearly show fully reassembled? Lol.. FAKE. You had me going for a moment. Shoulda known since this is the greatest online tabloid site ever!

  • If it was true it wouldn't be allowed on Uncyclopedia.

It works[edit]

I got it to work just fine... followed the instructions except I used a 500 gig drive.

I think a car battery mod is needed to make it really useful. What's the point of having all that capacity with a battery life of 6 mins. They could even put a shoulder strap on the battery so that you don't lose any of it portableness.

right....[edit]

now that is just dumb. you can't put it in your pocket, and no one would want to cary it out of fear of someone seeing them. and a 6 minute battery life??? come on now. I also am a skeptic of wether it would actually work or not. either way i'd rather cary my laptop around all day. no joke.

That's kinda the joke. ISeeDeadPixels 21:32, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

Hmm hmm hmm....[edit]

Look on the second page of this

bull[edit]

True?? if this is true then were is the ata adapter card and ide cables. The images showing this board with the wires looks like a fake.

Common if its true then create a google video and show it working with the device opena nd all parts. What a load of cra#@#. This is like the other 4GB upgrade to 8GB nano.

If you believe this bull then i think i will show my ipod wired up to my dell AX100 3 Terabyte SAN.

A fake comment about a fake by a fake?[edit]

I hope...
