"Must people find Brown's book known optical illusion to be his own existence. However, must buy people find must people an unreliable source. So whether or not buy Derren Brown's book, existence is his best known illusion, is unknown (by must people)."

What the fucking hell? Why are there embedded commands telling us we must buy his book? Atomik Spongeface 10:54, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

Because that is the sort of thing he does in his shows, it is how most of his illusions work. Jon hill987 22:24, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

Ah, OK! I see. Sorry for the whole...uh...outraged incredulousness. But I don't think some readers will get the joke. I didn't, at first. At a glance, it just looks weird. Do you think we should make the hints more noticeable? Atomik Spongeface 06:35, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

Maybe, or perhaps less noticeable, I was having trouble putting the hints in whilst making the paragraph still seem to make sense at first glance. The idea (in his tricks) is, as you read (or listen to) it quickly it says one thing but it actually is telling you to do another, in this case to buy his book.

Some of the stuff here should help you get the idea of the way he does it: http://www.channel4.com/entertainment/tv/microsites/M/mindcontrol/subtle/index.html Jon hill987 08:27, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

Well, some readers might actually think this is actually telling you to actually really buy his book for proper. (?) I know about the subtle commands (I'm a big fan), I just think it should be more obvious. Or how about we make it really subtle, and then at the end blatantly tell the reader to buy the book? It'll be quite funny. =D Atomik Spongeface 18:20, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

By the way, I see you're typing "[[User:Jon hill987|Jon hill987]]" to make your sig. The proper way to do it is to make a subpage, say - User:Jon hill987/sig - and put whatever you want, such as your userpage and talk etc. Then type ~~~~ to make it show up. I think really subtle is the way to go. Perhaps at the end we could say "as a result of reading this article you are now under Derren's spell and will now buy his book" or something to that effect.

I did know about typing ~~~~ to get my sig, I just edited the page afterwards to correct a SP error, which may have made it look like I didn't. I'm not too bothered about a talk page. Cheers anyway. Jon hill987 20:43, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

I believe the message is to ponder it. Looking at the whole of it all, just learning more about the darn subjects help everyone of us become better.OMGwhatHaveIdone (talk) 15:07, December 20, 2013 (UTC)
