Siliathian & Co
Siliathian & Co was an Italian musical instrument manufacturer founded in 1529 and went out in 1930.
Early instruments[edit]
Originally, Siliathian & Co (or originally Siliath & Ian, changed in 1698 to Siliathian, and again in 1872 to Siliathian & Co) was a maker of fine court instruments, including the original harpsichord and clavichord. Their first model, a flute, was the Siliath & Ian Golden Flute manufactured from 1530 until 1812, when materials were needed for the war effort.
Middle-period instruments[edit]
In 1699 the newly renamed Siliathian released their Harpsichord model HN6, produced from 1699 until 1886 when they diversified and needed to get rid of older models clogging up showrooms.
Late period instruments[edit]
In 1900, Siliathian & Co decided they needed to get modern or die in the past. They started producing their PA10 line of upright pianos from 1900 right up until 1929 when the company practically went out, but stayed open just long enough to pocket government money.
List of companies bought out by Siliathian & Co[edit]
- Brodmann Piano Co in 1815, then it was bought back in 1818
- Superfest & Planerk in 1918, closed in 1920
