"Nominate" feature

Given the current shortage of featured articles, I suggest adding a "nominate" button to the sidebar:

Random page link

I examined Lyrithya's code to get namespace-specific random pages, e.g. Special:RandomRootpage/UnTunes for a random tune. Except for the Cosmos skin, neither her code nor my simplification Special:RandomRootpage/{{NAMESPACE}} worked as expected (within the sidebar), making that novelty a wash.

It may seem pointless, but the line ** Special:RandomRootpage | randompage replaces randompage with the contents of MediaWiki:Randompage for the link text; this indirection creates a stable id to which MediaWiki:Accesskey-n-randompage can attach.

On the plus side, it means the keystroke combo Alt+Shift+x loads a random page, as seen on Wikipedia. Dark Web, White Hat (talk) 07:47, 24 April 2022 (UTC)
