Forum:Site messages "in general"
No one seems to care about the content of the site messages, so I'll consider myself totally outvoted on that which is fine. That being said, the site now permanently has a site message. How the main page looks is just as important as how the content notice looks...seriously. There used to be banners once in a while, to copy wikipedia whenever they had banners. Zombiebaron and a couple other admins were hesitant to liberally use site notices and I agreed with them. A very basic tennant of communications is that the greater you use a specialized form to commuicate special or urgent information, the less effective it becomes. I.E. The side bar is the place for perrenial information and links, and the site notice ought to be reserved for special and urgent information.
I personaly think the site notices are ugly and having them there all the time makes this site look like a student project. Could we consider using them sparingly. Or, if they must stay there all the time, could we beautify them? Is there anyone with programing or graphic design experience who'd consider proposing something more attractive, effective, inviting, wikipedia-like, anything?
I love you all and I love the way you love each other with devasting and aching love. --ShabiDOO 00:54, December 19, 2012 (UTC)
- I agree and I've made these exact points months ago. We don't say that we're "critically low" with votes anymore but our goal hasn't changed much either. I'm 100% for removing the lame-ass, overused site notice but I doubt it'll happen. I miss the old days when we used to see the sitenotice for special events and we really enjoyed eachother's company. But now, every time I wake up I look over in my bed and it's just like, "Ugh, there's the site notice, again." --Hotadmin4u69 [TALK] 14:01 Dec 19 2012
- Come one, you've beet off to the site notice, like we all have. I agree that those low numbers should be taken off, and we just ask for votes. We should do what wikiipedia does, as we are a wikipedia-satire site, and have them on special occasions when all fun breaks loose. Shabidoo, in his wisdom, has hit the nail into Jesus' head.
