Forum:New forum layout
Forum is up and running. Problems/suggestions/complaints can go here.
Also, if anybody wants to tinker with the CSS to make the forum table look nice, by all means go ahead. --Algorithm (talk) 10:53, 25 February 2006 (UTC)
An Idea...
Warning: This is a bit long because when I give ideas I give implementation suggestions... so get some popcorn.
I've always found that pages like voting pages or the Village Dump are a bit hard to read... instead of whining about it heres a possibility(?):
This is just an idea on how to perhaps make the color of the post alternate with each new post by a user for easier readability. It may or may not work, given my rather limited knowledge of MediaWiki, but its a proposal none the less:
Is it possible to add a variable or a template (it gets inserted instead of being dynamic to the template), named, say... (Using {{PAGENAME}})
New forum layout/NEXTPOST
that accomplishes the following:
For every post in a forum topic, the new post is placed in a template ie:
Where:
- NEXTPOST, upon submission of a post, is replaced with Two if its current value is One, or One if its current value is Two
- Alternatively, you could just increment it, and have odd numbers be synonymous to One and even numbers Synonymous to two:
- NEXTPOST % 2 = 0 ? 'Two' : 'One'
So that two classes, One and Two, are defined with backgrounds of different colors so you get an effect like:

- stfu, I pwn you n00b! Note: This text has been expanded to make it fit on more than one line for the purpose of viewing a multiple line comment, because most comments are written in a manner that they appear on more than one line.-- Village Idiot♠KUN Free Speech 17:58, 25 February 2006 (UTC)
