And how does it look with the current change work? Is there a prospective end?

Hmmm... is it time for en:user:Winston Churchill and fr:utilisateur:Charles deGaulle to accept its surrender and watch ru:Участник:Иосиф Сталин build an Iron Curtain across the middle of what was once a German-language uncyclopedia? --Carlb 01:12, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

That's worrying, it would be a great shame not to have a German language version available. I'll write there offering an alternative home on Wikia if they need it, there is a wiki ready at de.uncyclopedia.wikia.com. We would probably be able to set the url to their old one too (depending on who owns it and so on). Or maybe this is just a temporary thing, and all will be well on their old server soon -- sannse (Wikia Community Team) - 09:13, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
Well, registration at the forum is broken too it seems... I've written to the admin there, but if anyone knows the people involved in the de. uncyc it would be great if you could contact them and let them know Wikia is willing to host them if needed -- -- sannse 11:51, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
It looks like "Contents are available under the GNU Free documentation License 1.2/Inhalt ist verfügbar unter der GNU Free Documentation License 1.2" according to the footer on the individual pages (as cached by the search engines). If you hear nothing back, it should be possible (worst-case) to recover something from the cached version and re-use it under the GFDL so that the content is not lost. Whether that's necessary depends on whether they've disappeared for good or whether they do pop back up as advertised... wait and see, I guess? And no, I don't know the people behind the .de pages. --Carlb 12:57, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

An update - I've been in touch with the admin for uncyclopedia.de and he is keen to move to Wikia. Don't worry about transferring content for now, we will hopefully be able to do that with a database dump that will keep the history intact. The old url will be redirected, which should work nicely.

So the next question is, what's happened to Hikipedia? http://peelonet.zapto.org/hikipedia/wiki/ has been dead for days. I can't find any contact info for this one, so if anyone knows who has been involved in this that would be helpful. If I recall, they had quite a bit of content there. -- sannse 14:19, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

Wunderbar that the German reunification project is back on track and that the 'bot reposts can be deleted and replaced with the original database. As for Hikipedia? Dunno... it *was* up a week ago. About 800 of the 1800+ pages are archived on http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=site:peelonet.zapto.org (Yahoo draws a blank, Google only finds a dozen of the pages) but trying to browse these archived pages to see if there's any info is not straightforward - even with image display off, the browser will sit forever attempting to retrieve some bits from the original site. The list only displays the first 250 hits, not sure if there's any way around this other than multiple searches on narrower criteria to get other pages. Even then, that's less than half the total...
No idea whether this person has control of this or is just an enduser. Zapto.org is a dyndns.org-like server http://www.no-ip.com/services/managed_dns/free_dynamic_dns.html so its subdomains could well be pointing to someone's home computer. --Carlb 16:11, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
I'm not pointing the blame anywhere.....but my money would be on Biggles.... -- Sir Mhaille Icons-flag-gb.png (talk to me)
In that case, they're finnish'ed. Yikes. --Carlb 17:35, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
I've recovered about 200 of the 1881 pages and had Hymie post them to http://fi.desencyclopedie.org for now. If the original site comes back up, good, if not then it may be possible to recover at most a few hundred more pages. There's no way (unless we hear from the people behind this site) to rebuild the whole thing. --Carlb 02:37, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
I've tried a couple of email addresses, but no reply so far. So for the moment, as far as fi. is concerened, looks like it's time to start again. http://fi.uncyclopedia.wikia.com is up and available... perhaps what content has been recovered can be moved to there?
On the good news side, the de. database has been transfered. So the de. site is fully up at http://de.uncyclopedia.wikia.com -- sannse 10:01, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
Is the xx.uncyclopedia.wikia.com working for all foreign uncys?--Rataube 15:17, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
No, because most of them have their own names (anegkyklopaideia, inciclopedia, desencyclopedie and so on). We can set unique names up for de. and fi. as well if that's what they want of course. It might be a good idea to set up some redirects though, to help in finding different versions. -- sannse 15:39, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
We had some disscusion on the matter, so I thought maybe this was alredy implemented. I am in favor of it as long as the foreign uncys can keep their names as you said, and their current URLs of course.--Rataube 17:15, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

http://peelonet.zapto.org/hikipedia/ is back as of today. --Carlb 20:49, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
