Description A statue of Gandhi in West Indies. Over 2 million Indo-Caribbeans live in the nations of the Caribbean region. Along with celebrating traditional festivals such as Deepavali, and diverse temples, some have built statues reflecting the cultural principle of non-violence, such as Gandhi. This statue is in the town of Nickerie, Suriname - a former Dutch colony.
