The past is here. The future is below here: the future is now.

Who controls the present, controls the past. And who controls the past, controls the future. Or something like that. Anton (talk) 15:45, August 22, 2014 (UTC)

So does that mean if I control the present I can rewrite history to say that the world was created by pink unicorns? That's totally cool! ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr talkcontribs 15:56, August 22, 2014 (UTC)
Yes, sure, as you wish. On another topic, would you like to become an UnSignpost editor? We haven't had an issue for a month or so, but we have plent of stuff to write about. I'll get down to it sooner or later, but I'm afraid it will be more later than sooner. Anton (talk) 16:42, August 22, 2014 (UTC)
I would like to, but I'm afraid my days of writing funny stuff may be over. I'll also need to get caught up on what's happening, and that may prove to be a slow process since I've got another vacation or two coming up and I'm also working on Wikipedia and Illogicopedia, and I've only just got back here and all. I'll definitely give it some thought, though; thanks for the offer. ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr talkcontribs 17:30, August 22, 2014 (UTC)

I didn't intend it as a sockpuppet in the usual sense (I wasn't going to edit with it; I also created it while logged in, but for some reason that didn't show up in the logs) but it makes no real difference to me what becomes of it, except that I ended up hit with an autoblock and had to change my IP address. The way to do a lettered list would be to attach a style to the <OL> tag, such as list-style-type: lower-alpha. Attaching literal labels to the list items makes it harder to add new ones. But your final edit at Vermont is wiser, as there is no reason for this particular article to have a lettered list when the default throughout the encyclopedia is numbered lists. UnSignpost in-terview[edit]

Hello Llwy! It was very charming of you to agree to a rendez-vous an interview for our newspaper, and I will thus immediately proceed with my questions.

  1. To start with the most personal, do you think it is reading or writing humour that is more likely to cause you damage? Anton (talk) 19:32, September 26, 2014 (UTC)
Well, it depends--is there a vampire standing behind you? If so, is it Christian? And if it's Christian, is it Catholic or Protestant? Actually, no, that's something else again. It depends on whether you like cats... and whether the cats are serving overpriced sandwiches. The sandwiches have to be made of muffins, you see; otherwise the furries will defenestrate you and you'll find yourself watching your house burnt down by a gang of wild flying horses. More to the point, though, pickles don't taste like cheese. Does that answer your question? ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr talkcontribs • 19:56 26 September 2014
  2. I am afraid you have just reversed roles. Interviewee, do you think this answers my question? Anton (talk) 19:59, September 26, 2014 (UTC)
It answers your question if and only if you can find the one true sock and sacrifice it to the god of fire on the second full moon of May. Be warned: it smells really bad. ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr talkcontribs • 20:40 26 September 2014
  3. Interesting! What is your opinion on paganism? Anton (talk) 22:21, September 26, 2014 (UTC)
Pagan vampires are more dangerous than Christian vampires. They both have gods that demand human sacrifices, but pagans have way more of them. Pagans also prefer humans with smelly socks, because their gods demand sock sacrifices as well. Smelly sock sacrifices. So they're not only dangerous, but smelly. ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr talkcontribs • 00:59 27 September 2014
  4. I am afraid to ask you whether you are pagan or not. Instead, what's your favourite color? (Or favorite colour?) Anton (talk) 08:09, September 28, 2014 (UTC)
My favourite colour is green. Green is the colour of life, like trees and stuff. Trees are nice, but they never have anything to say. Green is also apparently the colour of comic book villains, so that means I'm evil or something. Nothing new about that revelation. ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr talkcontribs • 16:06 28 September 2014
  5. So are you a villain or a comic villain? There is a difference! Anton (talk) 05:49, October 1, 2014 (UTC)
Well, I try to be comic, but I don't always succeed. I'm like the opposite of those people who try to be evil but end up just being annoying, you know? I try to be annoying but end up being evil... no, that's not quite right. ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr talkcontribs • 17:46 1 October 2014
  6. Could you define "right" for us? Like, are you taking it metaphysically or ethically? This is very important to agree on all terms while discussing evil. Anton (talk) 06:25, October 2, 2014 (UTC)
I'm defining it both ways. If you go one step beyond physics into metaphysics, you find that the metadirection known as 'right' is halfway between the physical direction and the ethical direction. This can only occur in four dimensions, though; if you only have three, the magnets' polarities become reversed and you develop OCD and get distracted by shiny stuff. Eventually you find yourself in front of a shiny abyss and you jump into it, and then you either die or turn into a negative rainbow. ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr talkcontribs • 15:44 2 October 2014
  7. What is the fourth dimension, according to you? Time would be too banal, no? Anton (talk) 16:59, October 3, 2014 (UTC)
The fourth dimension is what happens when you stick your nose in your pocket before jumping off a cliff. If you do it right, your entire body passes through the pocket and you find yourself staring at a mysterious flame on the water, only to discover that the water itself is on fire. This will be the plot twist that leaves you topless and glittering. It's not just body glitter; it's a slow fire that drains the sun's energy in order to mix logic with petrol and create a stench the likes of which no flying pig has yet seen. Beware the flying pigs. They are not to be trusted with the secrets of your heart. ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr talkcontribs • 20:18 3 October 2014
  8. It seems that I left you contemplating water on fire for longer than I could expect. Well, I hope you still remember what we were talking about (water on fire) and I would love it if you told us how come flying pigs leave you topless. Or was it water? I don't remember. Anton (talk) 18:57, October 17, 2014 (UTC)
Flying pigs like to eat shirts. Especially shiny strapless ones. Or are those something other than shirts? No matter; they like shiny things. At least sometimes. Some have accused these flying pigs of being gay, but this is inaccurate, as it is actually the shirts that are gay. Shininess, not like or dislike thereof, is the most reliable indicator of sexual orientation, as is often thought to be demonstrated with Edward Cullen. He apparently lives in a shiny closet--it's so shiny because it's made of diamond, and it's made of diamond because diamond is one of the hardest minerals and therefore a good choice for an impenetrable closet. The closet is actually made of negative energy, you see, and it's wrapped around his heart to protect him from women. If his body would only release all that negative energy, he could become straight just like everybody else. That's how it works, right? right? ... ah nevermind, I think it was a different closet. The one we're investigating right now has a tarnished silver door and appears to contain a used litterbox. The litterbox isn't shiny, so it must be... forget it. ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr talkcontribs • 23:22 17 October 2014
  9. Wait a second, I did not sign up for this to start investigating some kind of closet. No, no and no. Include me out, as Goldwyn used to say. Anyway, thank you for sacrificing your time to this important conversation. I promise that the money I'll get from publishing it will go to a good cause. One last thing: is there a question you would like to answer? Anton (talk) 15:48, October 18, 2014 (UTC)
    Depends on what the question is. ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr talkcontribs • 16:50 18 October 2014

(PS--That was a pain to write. My Welsh is rusty; I hope it made sense. ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr talkcontribs • 23:26 7 October 2014)
Oh, I only started learning Welsh some weeks ago due to my interest in Celtic languages. Of course as I 'm not Welsh I never learned it in school, but I think it's a shame how some people talk about Welsh. The gouvernment of course does a lot of good work in Wales, but I think as it's called "Wales", it would be better if the language Welsh would at least be able to use everywhere with a co-existence of English and Welsh, because I sometimes read that right now it looks more like people not wanting to speak Welsh and Welsh learners not even being able to really use it in shops and so on because people understand them but only talk back in English because they are ashamed of Welsh.

Dydw i ddim yn wely fi eto. Ydy, mae'r Saesneg gan newid iawn, 'knight' er enghraifft dywedodd fel 'knicht', ond ar hyn o bryd mae'r 'na-eet'. Dwi'n medru darllen BBC Cymru well hefyd.

Nawr dwi'n dweud'n sylweddol 'nos da'! Reality2 (talk) 23:33, October 7, 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the edit by the way. In my language months are NOT capitalised and my English lessons in school are a long time ago. Reality2 (talk) 23:37, October 7, 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, it's a sad situation. I've also heard of people speaking Welsh when an anglophone walks into the room, but speaking English otherwise; in any case, it's a pretty sick language in the grand scheme of things. However, it is the healthiest Celtic language and the only official Celtic language in the UK--the other ones have it much worse, so Welsh is actually rather fortunate in a way.
You're welcome :) ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr talkcontribs • 23:42 7 October 2014

Two turtles of Verona[edit]

Thanks for the formatting, I tend to obsess over the words and their rhythm. I was initially a bit miffed that someone added a sonnet that didn't seem worthy of Wallis Shakespeare in place of my prose ending, yet when I thought, "Aha! It now ends with an embedded imposture!", I was at peace again. Refinement is a fundamental part of human advancement, and you are a worthy contributor. Ummm, and how do you do those signatures? Mine never show up. The preceding unsigned comment was added by jimlemon (talk • contribs)

Glad to be of use. War of the Lava Lamps[edit]

Hi Llwy! Despite the fact that this is the page about a fake movie, it's still very funny and interesting and can be nominated on VFH. There is only one suggestion I have: the movie is fake, so it's something hard to write about, but the article would be even funnier, if you tried adding another direction! Maybe a plot twist? Maybe a missing part of the movie has been found recently? Maybe there is a theory saying the movie wasn't created by Sam Spielberg? In any case, good job! Anton (talk) 16:59, October 20, 2014 (UTC)

One-day ban[edit]

I notified the Cabal of my ban, writing:

Llwy created an article talk page to say that Romartus had lost the history when he mainspaced [Flying toasters]. I performed the requested repair, but deleted the talk page, saying in the Deletion Summary that, if you want an Admin to do something, you should post to the Admin; creating a talk page was "posturing." She did not like that, and gratuitously parroted my remark just now in a VFD ballot (with a link to the log).
I banned her for one day, the first of the post-rehabilitation era. She has contributed useful coding and MediaWiki expertise, not so much on the comedy side, but every single Change Summary and ballot post is a chance to bay at the moon. You are welcome to revisit this.

The only response to date has been: "Sounds like she was creating drama for the sake of drama. One day is a gentle reminder of rule 1, so no argument from me."

We appreciate your work, but please do not fall back into the pattern of assembling and flogging grievances; this also includes grievances acquired at other websites, and especially do not flog them in irrelevant forums, such as ballots. Spıke Ѧ 14:10 22-Oct-14

I don't believe this reaction: "saying in the Deletion Summary that, if you want an Admin to do something, you should post to the Admin" was justified, Spike. An article talk page is there to voice problems about the article. Llwy could have contacted Romartus as well but she shouldn't be told that it was wrong to create an article talk page about it. I may have missed something but the VFD history doesn't show a recent addition by Llwy since at least 15 hours ago, could you please show the link to the comment? I understand your concern that the website should turn into a place of hate messages however this does sound a bit over the top. Sir ScottPat (converse) White Ensign.gif Scotland Flag 1.png Compassrose.gif VFH UnS NotM WotM WotY 14:20, October 22, 2014 (UTC)

Spike: I'm sorry. I did not mean to flog a grievance or create drama. I was actually glad that you thought I should have made a direct request to an admin rather than a covert one on Talk:Flying toasters, because I would have liked to make a direct request but chickened out. My parenthetical on VFD was supposed to be vaguely apologetic or at least make it clear that I acted out of shyness rather than... whatever you thought I was trying to do. It still shouldn't have been there, though. It was stupid. Anyway, I'm sorry for bothering you and I will be more careful in the future.

ScottPat: The link is here. ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr talkcontribs • 23:07 22 October 2014

All is well. I did think it created drama for you to reference a previous conversation in a VFD ballot, and that you put it there to attract unrelated Uncyclopedians to your side. Chickening out is not a problem; and ScottPat, creating a talk page was not a factor. Welcome back. Spıke Ѧ 23:18 22-Oct-14

(Should be GoAnimate.) Just checked the Wikipedia article and I remember seeing some of the videos during the 2012 political campaign. Surely the way forward (after devising a real comedy concept) is for an author to follow the "article in the style of the thing it's about" schtick by creating one or more GoAnimate videos by way of narration. Are you on it? Spıke Ѧ 22:29 5-Feb-15

I doubt you'll see this, but if you do -- though I fully intended to act on this, I had a look around and failed utterly to come up with a sensible idea. Thanks for the suggestion but I guess I let you down, and I see now that the article is gone which is sad. I'm sorry. I'm just not good at comedy writing anymore, if I ever was (which I wasn't). I probably won't be editing any more so as not to give you false hope. ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr talkcontribs • 06:39 1 March 2015

Hello and welcome back! I hope the ballot at VFD is self-explanatory. The article is no longer at risk of deletion, but it is renamed, as we had no article on Typography and we needed one more than we needed a commentary on a Wikia decision of 2014, on which by the way they are not paying much attention to us anyway. I added a few flourishes but if you could make it more interesting to the general reader, that would be nice. Spıke 🎙️23:15 4-Apr-17

I'm sorry to disappoint, but I'm not actually back. I only reappeared to post that comment on the talk page. (I don't know what Wikia decision you mean.) By "do what you will with it" I meant feel free to change it in any way. I'll consider your suggestion, but I don't know how to turn an article on the typography refresh into an article on typography, and I'm kind of busy. Perhaps it could discuss kerning? Hi Llwy-ar-lawr, nice to see you have remained in contact with this site. Sorry, it has been all change here this past week. The WeeEvils at Wikia/FANDOOM cut the skin options here to just their own. Buggers up the parody element of Uncyclopedia as regards Wikipedia. Hopefully if enough of us make a big stink, they will eventually modify this. --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 08:32, May 30, 2018 (UTC)

I'm not here. I'm just trying to make a fake Vector. Apparently that kind of thing is against the TOS for some reason -- oh well.

No problem. You're always welcome to drop by. The only option we have is a modified Oasis skin - aka 'PseudoMonoBook'. Hope we can get the Wikia weEVILS to supply a fix on this. Maybe. --Romartus Imperator (talk) 15:09, May 30, 2018 (UTC)
You've certainly made an impact for not being here. Thanks so very much for not visiting. We would throw gold, silver, chocolate at your feet, but I'm fresh out. Request to fix link colors[edit]

You no doubt have higher priorities at the moment, but if you could address the new colors now present for live internal links, it would be appreciated. they are currently:

My guess is the correct blue links are ones that have an unchanged word or phrase as a link and the greenish blue ones are redirects or changed names vs the source. Violet/purple is a mystery; I've only seen the one above so far. Thanks in advance. --Nigel Scribbler sig2.png (talk) 23:12, June 2, 2018 (UTC)

Oops. Sounds like you copied my entire common.css page instead of just the fake vector part. Me Update Good[edit]

Hi, Sysop <insert name here>! I used to be honorable Uncyclopedia editor under a different name, but am now using this account as a sockpuppet so don't tell! Seriously, my time here may be limited, but I do want to help. I'm posting specifically on admin's pages because I thought about doing updates on some out-of-date pages like this. But I don't want to mess with an "officlal" page without getting some sort of permission. (Although I might re-take over I.C. just long enough to redo an article or two when nobody's looking.) Father Alden Loveshade, humble rector of the University of Our Lady of Uncyclopedia, Whynersville Father ALDEN LOVESHADE??? (confessions)  23:16, June 3, 2018 (UTC)

Are you asking my permission? I don't think I'm in a position to give anyone here permission to do anything. I haven't been a properly active editor in about three years. You've been here way longer than I have, so as far as I'm concerned, anything you do is probably fine. ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr talkcontribs • 21:04 4 June 2018

I remember the days here when you couldn't pass gas without asking an admin's permission first. And even with permission, another admin would block you for it. Ah, the good old days. Alden Loveshade (talk) 04:22, June 5, 2018 (UTC)
Seriously, I remember getting blocked by an admin for a day when I repeatedly insisted it might be nice if we welcomed brand new posters instead of insulting them after their first edit. There were so many people editing, it was a "baptism by fire" sort of thing. They didn't care if they lost a few here and there. Problem was it scared off the nice people and attracted the jerks. Like me. Alden Loveshade (talk) 04:22, June 5, 2018 (UTC)
Yes, the activity here has gone down a lot. The site isn't what it used to be. It can't afford high standards anymore, I guess. Spike was pretty harsh sometimes in his effort to uphold his idea of the rules, but he's gone now. ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr talkcontribs • 05:32 5 June 2018

VFH template[edit]

Hi Llwy. Can you check this forum link. It this bit with the scrolling bar we had previously on the website. Since the change, I can't seem to make it work now. Is it a css or js file..or neither. --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 21:48, June 4, 2018 (UTC)

I just dug around in the site css and js files and I think it's MediaWiki:VFH vote.js, which is supposed to be imported to MediaWiki:Common.js. I have no idea why it's not working, so someone else will have to take it from here. template:USERNAME also isn't working, so maybe something is having trouble with javascript. ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr talkcontribs • 01:09 5 June 2018

Was wondering (if you care to spend the time) to make the contents box and picture frames backgrounds transparent here. The reason I ask is that I clocked out of Uncyc while having this page up, twice. So I returned to Oasis-world. But I found that the boxes above had transparent backgrounds and I thought the CSS page looked really good/perfeshunal that way. The second time I logged out, only the contents box had a transparent background. Somebody at Wikia is playing with such basic elements on a Sunday? At least it keeps them from doing something truly evil. --Nigel Scribbler sig2.png (talk) 06:46, June 11, 2018 (UTC)

You can't blame Wikia this time. When I copied common.css to wikia.css, everything there became functional again, including styling on thumbnail frames that was supposed to make them look like Vector. I have no idea how to make those things transparent on just that page. Previously the method for individual page styles was to create a subpage of MediaWiki:Skin and call for it in common.js, but that's not working anymore because common.js hasn't been approved hard enough or something. If we had that CSS extension it would be so much easier. I suppose I could create a TOC and image frames from scratch on the page, but that's a bother. ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr talkcontribs • 18:19 11 June 2018

Here's a couple more original pics if you want to use one or two of them. I set up and shot these photos myself. My ex-roommate and some friends and I set up a free admission Halloween tour in the back yard. Those are the real thing--a local butcher liked the concept, and donated most of the "biological bits." [1] [2]. Also would you mind if I did a little proofreading of the article? King Admin Alden Loveshade, by proclamation of Sannse most noble ruler of the Internet King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court)  16:33, June 18, 2018 (UTC)
I don't think it needs any proofreading, but you can if you like. Just don't change the British punctuation. I do it on purpose. My literature professor didn't know that. ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr talkcontribs • 18:19 18 June 2018
I think those pix (I checked on the image gallery) could be used for something about witchcraft or something like it. --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 19:39, June 18, 2018 (UTC)
OK that's fine. I just thought as the article specifically mentions brains and fetus, and at least one of those pics shows brains and a fetus, it might have been useful.
As for witchcraft, no. I am very close to real Wiccans/Pagans, and if I implied things like that had anything to do with what they practice, they'd turn me into a newt. Just kidding! Father Alden Loveshade, humble rector of the University of Our Lady of Uncyclopedia, Whynersville Father ALDEN LOVESHADE??? (confessions)  19:45, June 18, 2018 (UTC)
I can proofread American or British, so will stick with the honourable British (although I am not consistent in my comments below). I didn't see much proofreading, just a very little. Most is below.
"Uninterruptible" is used instead of "uninterruptable" by Oxford University Press.
I left "akashic field" with the adjective in lower case even though Akasha is properly uppercase--you're using the word in a non-standard form as humor--excuse me, humour--so capitalize as you will.
I stopped at "evilutionary" biology, but yeah, got the "evil" reference.
"...they often do not bother with this." This isn't a correction per se, and I didn't change it. But I'd prefer it changed to "...they often do not bother following directions," "do not bother with such concerns," or some such. Change or keep it as you will.
"...know for sure" to "...know for certain" sounds more academic to me.
There's a couple more nitpicky edits. I think, though, I did less changes proofreading on this than on almost anything I've proofread here! Father Alden Loveshade, humble rector of the University of Our Lady of Uncyclopedia, Whynersville Father ALDEN LOVESHADE??? (confessions)  20:02, June 18, 2018 (UTC)
"Akashic field" isn't my term. (Likewise with "evilutionary", which comes from the TV Trope "Evilutionary Biologist".) OTOH a quick google search suggests that it's normally capitalized, so maybe it should be changed.
I take issue with your removal of "it". A clause following a comma is supposed to have an explicit subject. Perhaps you are following some other guideline. Llwy-ar-lawr (alt) (talk) 22:55, June 18, 2018 (UTC)
Personally, I think it reads slightly better without the "it" (which I believe can be understood), but it is your article and the way you had it was correct. So go ahead and put it back in. I won't fight over it. It is your decision what you do about it. Father Alden Loveshade, humble rector of the University of Our Lady of Uncyclopedia, Whynersville Father ALDEN LOVESHADE??? If this is ready for prime time (or whenever it is), please move it to the top of the list of "Recent Articles" on the front page. Thanks! I think it's quite amusing. It does not have to be 10-year-old Redditor stuff nor a 20,000 word essay written as high art where only 3 people get the jokes. Room for all, in my naïve opinion. It's also not the days where one could be held to a vague high Wikipedia parody standard when the subject didn't deserve that kind of treatment. AAAAAAAAA! is certainly safe from ever winning the Nobel Prize. --Nigel Scribbler sig2.png (talk) 05:01, June 19, 2018 (UTC)

Telepaths for sale, huh? Amazon must sell everything. (That looks to be an ad rather than a search result.) When I search for that, the first hit is my article and then there's "Buy Under Beds from Bed Bath & Beyond". That's with DuckDuckGo.
